전위예술가 자살 '행위예술'로 착각 독일의 한 전위 예술가가 베를린 화랑가의 한 6층 건물에서 뛰어내려 자살했으나 관광객들은 이를 거리에서 벌어지는 행위예술의 하나로 착각, 진짜 죽은 사람인 줄 모르고 '작품'을 감상하는 어처구니 없는 일이 벌어졌다고 독일 일간지 타게스 슈피겔이 6일 보도. 관광객들은 20대의 이 여성 조각가가 바닥에 쓰러져 숨져있는 것을 죽은 시늉을하고 있는 것으로 생각하고 주위에 몰려들어 사진을 찍기도 했다는 것. 사건 당시 화랑거리를 견학하던 학생을 인솔한 교사는 "우리는 지금 라이브 퍼포먼스를 보고 있다"고 설명했으나 한 학생이 뒤늦게 실제상황임을 깨달아 경찰에신고했다고. The body of the 24-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was found next to the Tacheles arts center last week. Passers-by initially thought it was part of an art piece at the center, which is known for displaying offbeat works. "It wasn't immediately clear that the situation was for real," police spokeswoman Christine Rother said. "They thought someone was playing around." Witnesses told police the woman came to the arts center the evening of Nov. 26, and told artists there that she intended to kill herself. They videotaped her statement. One man in the group tried to dissuade her from suicide. The pair drank together before the 32-year-old took her home in his car, Rother said. But the woman, who officials said had been suffering from depression, returned to the arts center and jumped from an upper floor. BERLIN (Reuters) - Visitors to a off-beat Berlin arts center thought a dead woman on the ground was a performance art act rather than a suicide, police said on Thursday. Authorities said the 24-year-old woman, who apparently leapt from a window, discussed suicide in a videotaped interview with a group of artists the day before. "A group of visitors to the center at first thought the body lying on the ground at the art center was part of an art performance," said police spokeswoman Christine Rother. "It took a while before anyone realized it was not an act but a suicide." Artists at the Tacheles art center had videotaped the woman the evening before when she told of her suicide plans.
